Highfields Backpackers are one of the original hostels in Knysna, in one of the funkiest buildings in town.

We have in-house tours that cater for everybody's taste, from a quiet canoe trip along the Knysna river to adrenaline pumping kloofing / canyoning, or for the less energetic we offer township tours or trips as far a field as Oudtshoorn to visit the Cango Caves, ostriches & more.

We can accommodate 35 people in twin, double, and family rooms as well as dormitories with clean bedding, clean bathrooms, and a fully fitted kitchen for your use.

For the more indulgent we also offer a traditional South African braai around our cozy boma right next to the pool for those really hot days. If this is too quiet for you we will point you in the direction of our great restaurants and vibey pubs & clubs.
